Describing and Mesuring Motions
Describing Motion
A motion is the distance from one object's direction.
Refernce Points
A refrence point is a spot where an object is used.
An object that is in motion if it changes position relative or a refrence point.
Stationary objects are trees,signs.
When your bus moves it seems like your going backwards but you looked at th eother refrence points.
Relative Motion
You and your book move like from NYC to LA in 2 minutes.
measuring distance
When you or somebody else describe motion they use SI to describe the distance.
The Si unit is a meter a meter is just a little longer then a yard
Calculating Speed
If somebody knows the distance an object travels in an amount of time.
The speed equation
The speed equation is speed= Distance over time.
Average speed
The average speed you divide the total time and you can
Instantaneous Speed
Instantaneous speed is the rate at the object is at moving
Describing Velocity
When i know both the speed and direction of an object's motion.
Graphing Motion
I can show the motion of an object on a line graph.
Steepness of a line is called a slope the slope tells you how fast variable changes.
Caculating slope
I can calculate the slope by dividing the the rise.
Different Slopes
From the steepness the line is divided into three segments.
