        extinction - when the consequence is eliminated and response tendency ggradually weakens, only exists if there is a lack of alt. stimuli
        
        punishment - unwanted consequence, person has to believe they will be punished again for it to work
      - modelling -- copying model similar to themselves, less likely to engage in behav if model is punished for it. can be a celeb.
        
        habitual -- firmly estab. behav. less dependant on consequences and more on antecedent cues??? important for kids
        
        antecedent -- ext/int stimuli, precede/set occason for behav
  - - - unrealistic pess/opt. occur across all ages -- opt. people likely not to take prevent. action, ppl who practice health behav. feel more at risk. health professionals can make programs so ppl can worry more realistically

        cues to action -- being reminded abt potentional problem increases likelihood of perceiving threat and taking action

        outcome of weighing risks/benefits/barriers is called the SUM
        
        SUM = BENEFITS - BARRIERS
        
        assessed sum + perceived threat = likelihood of taking action, applicable to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention
