Atoms, Elements and Compounds
Atoms
Everything is made of Atoms, they are very tiny so that you can´t even see them.
-
Elements
There are thousands of Elements, each Element has a particular type of Atom, the Atoms of an Element are different of the Atoms of another Element.
-
-
-
Chemical Symbols
Each Element is given its own Chemical Symbol, each Symbol starts with a capital letter with a second letter written in lower case.
Examples:
Mg is the correct symbol of Magnesium but mg, mG or MG are wrong.
The Chemical Symbols are the same in all the world, it does n´t matter the language. That`s why some Symbols aren´t accord to its name in English.
-
Chemical Formulae
A Formula says what Atoms make up a molecule, a type of molecule always has the same Formula.
-
When there are two or more Atoms in a formula, you have to write the number of Atoms under the line ( in coggle we couldn´t do it).
