Tier 1 Interventions
Universal Design for Learning
Principle 1: Provide multiple means of representation (recognition network).
Principle 2: Provide multiple means of action and expression (strategic network).
Principle 3: Provide multiple means of engagement (affective network).
Anchor charts with visuals
Graphic Organizers
Word wall with explicit instruction for key words
Personal word wall
Small group instruction; one on one conferring
Manipulatives-moving from concrete to abstract
Modeling
"Must Do" problems to help students focus on essential skills
Math Dreambox-a math computer program that provides students with activities and games directly tied to common core standards.Is tailored for every students' abilities and tracks mastery of standards.
Guided reading groups- at least once a week
Spelling help-Words their Way
Partner work
Tier 2 Interventions
Intervention teacher pushes into classroom.Tier 1 interventions continue.
Small group or one one one
Focus on specific skill development
Guided reading group focused on specific skill 3 times a week
Tier 3 Interventions
Tier 1 and 2 interventions continue, but intensity of interventions increases.
Pull-out with intervention teacher
Individual needs-45–120 minutes, 5 days/week
Refer for special education testing
If student is not progressing with tier 1-3 interventions, they will be referred for testing. Need parent approval.
Once results are returned, Student Support Team (General education teacher, administrator, family, others) will interpret results to find student eligible or not for special education or 504 plan.
