Engagement is selective perception.
With this comes selective attention, selective exposure
Stage 2. Organization
Similarity
Physically things appear to be similar.
Contrast
The conclusion of things not belonging together.
Proximity
How close someone is.
Stage 3. Interpretation-Evaluation
Influenced from experiences, beliefs, values, and even gender and stereotypes.
Stage 4. Memory
Every interpretation or evaluation has been stored in our memory so they can be retrieved later on.
Stage 5. Recall
Inconsistencies
Contradictions
Stereotypes
Stereotypes and contradictions are easier to remember whereas inconsistencies will be forgotten.
