Western Europe
Social: The collapsed economy in Germany had caused increased attacks on foreigners and immigrants. Many immigrants had been in Germany during this time because of the lack of harsh immigration laws.
Economic: After being reunified Germany had to raise a lot of money to be able to rebuild eastern Germany and was forced to raised taxes. The almost complete collapse of economy in eastern Germany lead to a lot of unemployment.
Political: After the fall of communism, the Berlin wall fell soon after. After this the country reunified in 1990.
North America
Social: During the 1990s there was a backlash to women’s rights movements which caused some supporters to try and stop other supporters but others kept supporting the movements and have tried to get women more rights through the 2000s.
Economic: Canada had approved NAFTA (North America Free Trade Agreement) in 1993, which let Canada, the US, and Mexico all trade freely between each other. This agreement had helped make trade more profitable and easier.
Political: The US has switched political sides between Left and Right with each president having different views on what the country needed to do. An example of this would be George W Bush who heavily focused on the war on Terrorism and Iraq, while Reagan focused on peacetime military buildup.
Eastern Europe
Economic:Once free parliamentary elections were held this lead to major free market change but this caused severe unemployment. The president helped lead Poland to a better economy.

Political:In Poland as the Soviet Union starts to fall much of the population voice their disinterest with the government. This lead to parliamentary elections in 1988.
Africa
Social: In West Africa, the divided Muslims and Christians have been starting riots since the early 2000s, this has lessened but the conflict still carries on.
Economic: Population growth has slowed the economy in much of Africa and has even damaged parts of Africa.
Political: Much of Africa has tried to branch out to other political parties during elections and giving women more of a chance to run in politics.
Middle East
Political: Iran is held under strict Islamic laws. They limit the rights of women heavily and also limit rights of free press and free assembly, after the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Social: In the Middle East most people have little rights as because of Islamic laws women have almost no rights and most men still don’t have many rights as you can’t criticize the government.
Economic: The Middle East economically is pretty bad but it’s the least of their problems as a lot of it has to deal with terrorism.
South and Southeast Asia
Social: Even in the modern day, Agriculture is still important to India as being a farmer is still a common job.
Economic: India has had an incredibly quickly growing economy as it has also become one of the largest economies in the world because of the economic reforms in 1991.
Political: India and Pakistan had been on the brink of war since 1998 as the conflicts between Hindus and Muslims continued until 2003 when both countries decided to cease fire and restore diplomatic relations.
South/Central America
Social: The south has tried to increase public education with educational reforms and overall try to improve education.
Economic: Brazil and Chile have done well economically after the Cold War with economic growth with increased trade being a focus for Lula da Silva.
Political: Many countries in South America have become democracies since the 1990s with reforms. The south has also gained a lot of popularity for the left wing party in countries like Bolivia and Paraguay.
East Asia
Economic: Japan had a major economic boost before the 90s and it had been rising but during the 1990s Japan had a major economic recession with workers getting laid off and the country never rose out of it.
Social: China started a one child policy in 1979 because of the quickly increasing population which while worked in the moment, over time it started to weaken and weaken until it was basically rid of.
Political: North and South Korea have both been in conflict before the 1990s but it has only become a bigger issue since then as tensions have been rising between North Korea and the US who has been helping South Korea.
