When the polynesians moved to New Zealand, they couldn't use any of their animals, because of the cold climate. Instead they ate the native birds and a new food called Bracken fern.

The Maori never used metals tools, but instead favored rocks and wood. With the proficiency of they're tools, they invented a way to make new tools with different stones. The most important stone to the Maori was the pounamu, which had several tool uses and wearing features, and were also religiously prevalent.

Mammals were non-existent in early New Zealand, however, birds and lizards were incredibly prevalent, with the famous species like the Fantail, Moa, Haast's Eagle, and the Tuatara.

Musket Wars
The introduction of guns into the Maori world would change it forever, by making the musket wars. A fierce and dangerous war where the Maori tribes and the Pakia fought each other with muskets.

Introduced Pests are a current problem in todays society, because they eat the eggs of endangered species like the Kiwi, which are dangerously protected because of possums, rats and stoats.

Having a profession in early Maori culture was a important thing, because the landscape was new and unfamiliar. People such as tailors and cooks were required to find new sources of food and to make warm clothing for the Maori.

The Maori unfortunately hunted the Moa to extinction, and did not know that one of the major factors of the Moa's extinction was the Haast's Eagle, a massive and fierce creature with talons the size of lions.

The dutch found New Zealand to find a large continent which would probably be Antartica, but instead found New Zealand. When sailing towards it, the Maori performed a Haka to scare off the Pakia, and instead they played trumpets, which meant they wanted to fight to the Maori. The Pakia were completely demolished, leaving only some survivors.
