The Maori never used metals tools, but instead favored rocks and wood. With the proficiency of they're tools, they invented a way to make new tools with different stones. Birds and Lizards
Mammals were non-existent in early New Zealand, however, birds and lizards were incredibly prevalent, with the famous species like the Fantail, Moa, Haast's Eagle, and the Tuatara.
Massive Animals (Gigantism)
The introduction of guns into the Maori world would change it forever, by making the musket wars. A fierce and dangerous war where the Maori tribes and the Pakia fought each other with muskets.
Introduced Pests are a current problem in todays society, because they eat the eggs of endangered species like the Kiwi, which are dangerously protected because of possums, rats and stoats.
Trades and New Technology
Having a profession in early Maori culture was a important thing, because the landscape was new and unfamiliar. People such as tailors and cooks were required to find new sources of food and to make warm clothing for the Maori.
Hakas (To threaten enemy tribes)
The Maori unfortunately hunted the Moa to extinction, and did not know that one of the major factors of the Moa's extinction was the Haast's Eagle, a massive and fierce creature with talons the size of lions.
Seel (Not extinct, but endangered.)
The dutch found New Zealand to find a large continent which would probably be Antartica, but instead found New Zealand. When sailing towards it, the Maori performed a Haka to scare off the Pakia, and instead they played trumpets, which meant they wanted to fight to the Maori. The Pakia were completely demolished, leaving only some survivors.
Dangerous new Technology
Destruction of established Culture
There was a sad remove of the great Maori culture in favor of the european lifestyle, which very much endangered Polynesian culture as a whole.
