States of Emotion
Anxiety
Frequency
Duration
-
I usually force myself out of it within 5-10 minutes of its onset, because it expends a lot of energy.
-
-
Can, and will, reoccur throughout the day.
Transition
Occurs at random, and can interrupt any of the other four states.
-
Description
A creeping feeling that can occur at random regardless of an environmental stressor. Mentally perceived as being swarmed by ants.
A state that is associated with deadlines, quality of work, and poor organizational skills.
Can be abated through mindfulness or completing whatever task I am anxious about. An alternate method is getting rid of it by forcing myself to feel Contentment, i.e. to stop caring about it.
-
Annoyance
Description
A flicker of irritation that does not extend itself to general anger. Will, however, easily show on my face.
Often caused by an environmental stressor, e.g. someone walking directly in my path.
-
-
Frequency
-
Duration
Should not last longer than 10 minutes, but can occur at random.
Sparks of annoyance usually do not overlap; meaning the intensity of my annoyance will remain constant.
I will either pick one stressor to be annoyed with, or I will lump them together into a general event.

Like with Anxiety, I usually force myself out of it within 10 minutes of its onset, because it expends a lot of energy.
Can occur at random, but usually late at night.

-
Usually leads to the Annoyance state, because it takes up too much energy and I get tired of it.
-
Happiness

Duration

-
Can last longer if I am doing something I enjoy in a nice environment, e.g. my home.
-
-
Description
Similar to the spark experience in the Annoyance state, but feels more like a firework.
-
General happiness, or a positive state of being, is interpreted as Contentment, and does not apply in this state.
-
Contentment
-
Description
-
My general state of emotion. It is more of a neutral feeling than a happy one, so it does not really show on my face.
Mentally perceived as something soft, e.g. a pillow or blanket.
