Western Europe
Economic-
The European government had formed and European Union which created a common currency in 1993
Politics-
The leaders of Western Europe had faced many problems at the end of the twentieth century.
Social-
France faced with problems as resentment grew against foreign born residents
Africa
Social-
Poverty and AIDS is a widespread concern and religion has led to violence in some parts in Africa.
Politics-
Although, some African nations are showing signs of political stability. But, most still have problems.
Economics-
Africa struggles with poverty. Almost every country lives on about two dollar a day. This is only about $730 yearly at max.
South and Southeast Asia
Economics-
The economic growth has been rapidly increasing since 1990. The growth rates led to a prediction that they would become one if the biggest economic superpowers by the twenty-first century.
Social-
The service and industrial sectors account for much of India's GPD. A rivalry continues between India and Pakistan, as Pakistan deals with its own instability.
Politics
- North Korea and South Korea are still rivals and have two many different kinds of government. North is a dictatorship and South is a democracy.
Middle East
Economics-
Organizations similar to the EU have formed in Africa to try and help it economic, social, and political problems
Politics-
Much of the Middle East and North Africa face political instability. This could have led to the uprisings in the Arab Spring
Social-
The Middle East and North Africa still have problems with poverty, unemployment, poor education and limited civil rights.
Eastern Europe
Social-
Lech Walesa had organized a national trade union know as Solidarity which sought independence from the Soviet Rule . He was then arrested for his efforts. Then years later he was let out of jail and became the ruler of Poland
Politics-
Nicola Ceausescu rules the Communist Soviet Union with an iron fist. He uses secret police to kill thousands of peaceful protestors.After the military had stopped following orders from him, himself and his wife were executed .
Economics
- The European Union had one main goal and that was to find a common currency.It had brought the countries together through the Euro, free travel between member nations, free trade and common baking practices. This had help the European economies grow
North America
Economics
- The United States still struggles with human rights and equal pay. Also, they struggle with poverty and unemployment.
Social-
Mexico has drug problems and poverty. They have also struggled with unemployment. They are part of a free trade organization with Canada and the United States
Politics-
Fox and the National Action Party defended the Institutional Revolutionary Party for presidency, they contributed to the rise of the multi-party system
East Asia
Social-
In 1997, China had put in place the on-child policy. This had help reduce the population growth
Economics-
The new Chinese government after Mao was sought to modernize China.Still, after the Cold War China was still under Communist rule.
Politics-
There is still tension between North and South Korea. This is due to North Korea's nuclear weapon program.
South Amercia
Social-
Cuba and the United States have begun to repair their relationship that became strained during the Cold War and Fidel Castro's presidency.
Politics-
The Dominican Republic relies on tourism and remittances from Dominicans abroad.
Economics-
El Salvador has recently ended their streak of conservative power, they still struggle with poverty, a civil war and gang violence.
