Pine
Parana Pine
(Hard, straight grain, knot free, strong, durable but expensive wood of pale yellow color with red streaks)
Scots Pine
(Straight grain, knotty, strong, cream color wood which is easy to work with)
Spruce or Whitewood
(Creamy whtie color, small hard knots and not very durable)
Cedar
Yellow Cedar
(Pale yellow color wood with fine, even texture. Lightweight, stiff and stable)
Western Red Cedar
(Lightweight, knot free wood with reddish brown color. Its weak,easy to work with, has natural oily surface but expensive.
Douglais-fir
(Straight grain, easy to work with, light brown color)
Redwood
(Straight grain, easy to work with, Its shade of brown can change)
Larch
(Straight or spiraled grain, moderate price, shade of brown can change)

Hardwoods
Meranti
(Color highly variable ranging from a pale straw color, to a darker reddish brown. Coarse texture with medium pores. Grain sometimes interlocked. Low decay resistance. Easy to work with. Severe reactions uncommon.)
Beech
(Pale, cream color, sometimes with a pink/brown hue. Veneer slightly darker colored. Straight grain with a medium texture. Low rot-resistance. Good workability. Severe allergic reactions uncommon.)
Oak
(Light to medium brown color. Has white to light brown sapwood. Has straight grain, with a coarse and uneven texture. Has very high rot-resistance. It produces good results with hand and machine tools, however, has high shrinkage values. Severe allergic reactions are uncommon, however, it has reported to be a sensitizer.)
Ash
(Has light to medium brown color. Has wide sapwood. Has medium to coarse texture. Straight grain. Rot resistances rated perishable. Produces good results with hand and machine tools. Can cause skin irritation and can rarely cause lung problems.)
Birch
(Heartwood is light reddish brown. Has white sapwood. Has straight or slightly wavy grain. Fine, even texture. Perishable rot resistance. Easy to work with, though machine work could cause tearing. Rarely reported as sensitizer.)
