Self Concept
Self Concept is the way that you view yourself as a whole. It contains almost anything from your strengths to your feelings.
Self Concept can be impacted by the way that other people respond to certain things that you may do.
People may also try and compare themselves to other people such as who is better than the other. The internet has allowed for people to easily compare numbers to peers.
A person's culture can have an impact of the self concept that they carry around, whether it be about personal success or failure.
In college, I often found myself comparing my test scores to other people's to see how well I did compared to them. Since I compared myself to people of lower skill level it is known as downward social comparison.
Self evaluation allows people to look at some of their actions as a positive outlook on their self concept or if a negative action has occurred they may look down upon their self concept.
Self Awareness

The open self brings to the table all of the topics that people can tell openly, such as someone's race, name, or even their age.
The blind self is something that other people may actually know about you, but instead you try to hide it or not recognize it.

When I am talking to the patient about myself, I would hide the fact that I went to prison for five years. the hidden self would be coming out in this interaction.
People sometimes never know something about themselves until they figure it out throughout a dream or something else, which can be found in someone's unknown self.
Self Esteem

I was about to start a procedure on a patient when the nerves got the best of me. I kept telling myself that I couldn't do it which just lowered my self esteem. After lowering my self esteem I was surely not able to do it.
Confidence is key in having a great self esteem.

People can better themselves by taking the self-destructive beliefs and making them into possible beliefs that can results in positive outcomes.
Do not put on a fake face full of success. The end result would be a very negative self esteem due to the fact that you already know you weren't that successful.
Another way is to find someone that is very nourishing. People that will not point out the flaws in oneself, but instead point out the positives.
People should start picking projects that they know they can be successful on so they can help raise their self esteem.
I decided to do a challenging procedure on a patient, because I knew that it was possible for me to do and something that would help me look better upon myself.
Success is something that everyone should look at and they should ignore the failures or negatives that can occur in everyday life.
Include affirmations into your every day life and look at statements that have "I can", "I will" or even "I am".
Improving Self Awareness

Listen to other people, and you might recognize them making comments about yourself which can be very helpful.
After performing a procedure on a patient, I overheard the patient tell the nurse that I was very gentle when moving her around. I used my listening skills to help improve my self awareness.
If people would just take a step back and open their eyes to certain qualities about them, they will recognize information that they turned their heads to before.
Other people may help you realize the different selves that you portray to different crowds. Make note of their interactions and become more aware of your self.
When talking to people make sure to be your open self, and you may actually find new information about yourself that you did not know before.
