Designated parking places can be chosen and marked up
Use HR database to link people with similar post codes (With signed up staff's permission, of course)
Promote and sign up uptakers - drivers and passengers
Research car sharing software and evaluate cost vs benefits
Smart and city cars zone (<3.6m long) - choose area and mark up
Promote electric bike scheme by getting people to try them out and providing a financial incentive to get e-biking
Publicly acknowledge crisis and solution
Design posters leaflets email, etc. to promote BENEFITS of new system. Remeber - WIIFM - What's in it for me?
Approach Council to negotiate for some permit spaces, demonstrating that other solutions are also being implemented
Draw up short, medium and long term plans
Consider suitable, safe, easy access e-bike storage. Remember they are heavier than standard bikes
Draw up system of incentives, rewards and penalties
Understand and empathise with those who will most likely need to change how they get to work

Advertise for "Change Champions" to promote and drive changes forward
Make it clear that changes
are
going to happen soon and invite discussion and ideas
Promote smart and city cars - provide details of makes and models etc.
Get them to understand that things cannot continue as they are - unsustainable and high risk for the Trust
Try out those electric bikes!
Encourage discourse about car sharing. Those with big cars need to understand that they will find parking difficult to find unless they either join car share or change to a smart or city car
Highlight new schemes to new recruits and in recruitment advertising
Identify the Trust's most effective leaders and use them to implement changes at all levels. Use creativity and positivity.
Promote the advantages of walking and using public transport

Acknowledge complaints
Show how we are tackling the problem
Ask for ideas and feedback
Ask for patience while we implement new schemes
Update website to show benefits of new systems

When scheme has started, regional TV exposure to promote RBH as innovative and forward thinking. Involve staff, patients and relatives.

Involve local businesses (for e-bikes, smart and city cars and speed walking kit
Involve local residents
A pioneering scheme for uptake by other hospitals? Great publicity! Get everyone involved!
