Social issues: China started a one-child policy in 1979. The policy is aimed to help control the population growth by giving incentives for families to only have one child
Economic issues: A new agricultural policy was adopted in China that let farmers lease land to peasants who would pay them rent and anything that was produced above the value of the rent could then be sold for a profit. The policy then began to help China end poverty problems entering the Industrial Age.
Political issues: In the 1950's and 1960's, the Chinese government allowed women to take part in politics and they were given equal marital rights

Social: There was religious conflicts between the Hindus and Muslims that fueled a long-term dispute between India and Pakistan
Economic: Growing economic power in India, emerged to the largest and fastest growing economy. Economic reforms had foreign investment which led them towards a market-based economy. Economists believe India is a growing superpower and will be the worlds third largest by 2035.
Political: The congress party’s strong hold on remaining the leading party began to decline. The militantly Hindu Bharata Janata Party competed with the congress party.
