South/Central America
Social Changes:The greatest social changes in Mexico have been the drug wars that have killed many and how poverty stricken the country has become. Due to the poverty, teens get into drug cartels as transporters and the trend continues as they have kids and so on.
Political Changes: Since the Cold War, their have been many political changes in Latin American countries. Nations like Brazil and Chile have pushed for democracy and have made changes to increase free trade policies.
Economic Changes: South American countries have had a better transition than Central America since the Cold War. They have created democracies and reformed their economic situations. However, countries in Latin America such as Mexico have had major issues including drug cartels and poverty across the country.
West Europe
Political ChangesIn terms of the reunification of Germany, their were many political changes, from one party to another. The Social Democrats were the first to try and solve the new Germany's issues. They had little success though, causing another change to the Christian democrats who elected a the first women chancellor of the time.
Social Changes:In France, social change came with hatred towards foreign born residents. The greatest of these issues came with the tension between the French people and the muslim community in the country.
Economic Changes:Germany's reunification caused many issues for the country. Economically, it was no better than any other aspect with high taxes and unemployment causing many woes.
Middle East
Political Changes:
Many countries in the Middle East struggle with political instability due to radical religious and rebel groups fighting for control of countries like Syria.
Economic Changes: After the cold war, the middle east is still the primary source of oil for the world. With this abundance of natural resources, they have much power allowing the governments to sell the oil for expensive costs, despite much unemployment.
Social Changes:
New uprisings by younger generations are starting to begin in countries like Egypt. These protests have caused the imprisonment in Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak due to his oppressive governemnt.
South/Southeast Asia
Political Changes: After the cold war, new parties started to emerge and take hold in countries like India. Some countries, including the Philippines, have also started to move toward democracy despite financial troubles.
Social Changes: Since the cold war, there has been an increasing conflict between the the Hindus and Muslims of India and Pakistan. This is greatly because of their religious differences.
Economic Change: Since the end of the Cold War, India has emerged as one of the strongest economies in the world. They embraced foreign investment and free market economy to develop and strengthen their economy to be where they are today.
North America
Political Changes: After the cold war, in 1993, Canada, The US, and Mexico approved the North American Free Trade Agreement allowing more profitable and easier trade between the countries,
Social Changes: NAFTA was thought to be favorable to the US by many Canadians. This led to many angry citizens in Canada causing a change in prime minister.
Economic Change: Despite record government spending and budget deficits in the U.S., the economy has been growing and has even bounced back from major housing crisis'.
Africa
Economic Changes:
Many African nations have come together since the cold war to form organizations that decrease economic hardships. These organizations are similar to the EU. Many African nations are also adopting a more western economic structure.
Political Changes:
Since the cold war many African nations are changing their governments from being conservative to more democratic nations. One of these said countries is Libya.
Social Change:
Some African nations, like Uganda, have recently started to defend against AIDS. Countries have tried to fight AIDS because of the estimation that about two thirds of all people living with AIDS live in Africa.
East Asia
Economic Changes:
Since the 1990's, Japan has been facing little to now economic growth due to deflation. However, South Korea has seen a major economic boom due to changes they have made and not staying isolated from the rest of the world.
Social Changes:
Due to a great increase in population, a one-child policy was enforced in China. Any family that followed to this rule would be given government support and aid.
Political Changes:
For almost 30 years, South Korea has been experiencing a growing democracy. All of the previous military leaders were replaced with new and unprejudiced civilian leaders.
East Europe
Political Changes: After the fall of communism, many countries adopted democracy, including Poland, due to the demand from many citizens.The European union also formed putting political regulations on many of the countries.
Social Changes: Czechoslovakia managed to have a peaceful split creating the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The split was due to old ethnic conflicts rising again.
Economic Changes: Free market economy was embraced in countries including Russia. From this and natural resources, Russia has had a budget surplus and gaining economy.
