South America

Social- In Mexico, the citizens struggled with poverty, unemployment, and violent drug trades.
Politics- Institutional Revolutionary Party has dominated Mexican politics until the decline of its popularity in the 1990’s. By 2000 the PRI was completely gone, and was replaced with multi-party systems.
Eastern Europe
Boris Yeltsin became president of Russia in 1991. He introduced Russia into a free market economy. Vladimir Putin became president in 2000, his reforms brought a budget surplus that sparked a growth for their economy, but they still faced challenges.
When the Soviet Union fell, old ethnic conflict arose between the Czechs and the Slovaks. This conflict led to their split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Politics- Poland stops being a soviet state. They then voted for Walesa to become president, which ended 45 years of Communism.
Africa
Economics-Rapid growth has slowed economic growth. Africa’s growth rate used to be increasing and that caused poverty to become a widespread concern, but now the economic growth has slowed down
Social-AIDS became widespread concerns. More than 1.2 million people died because of AIDS. Uganda has made significant process in its fight against AIDS.
Politics-In Africa political change is often slow and painful. The Organization of African Unity established the African Economic Community. They are intended to provide greater integration through Africa.They have already sought to medicate different.
North America
Economics-Canada adopted the North American Free Trade Agreement. (NAFTA) This allowed for easier and a more profitable trade.
Social- In the United States, the Reagan administration produced record budget deficits.
Politics- The United States elected their first African American president in 2009. His name was Barack Obama, and led the nation to health care solutions.
Western Europe

Social-France faced problems with their own citizens. Many of these citizens were born residents who were Muslim. These problems hurt France’s social structure.
Politics-Great Britain had many Prime Minister changes. This was because of the the war and the prime ministers not being able to fulfil the ideas of their citizens.
Middle East
Economics-Most countries in the region have a high percentage of young people.More than half of Egypt are under the age of 25. The majority of these young people are unemployed.

Politics-Iraq fell into a civil war between the Shia Muslims , southern Iraq, and the Sunni Muslims, central Iraq. Also they elected a new prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.
South/Southeast Asia
Economics-India’s economy has become one of the most largest and fastest growing. A lot of economists believe India is rising to an economic superpower and will have the world’s third largest economy by 2035.
Social-There is conflict between Hindu and Muslim groups. This conflict is over the Kashmir area in between India and Pakistan. The reason there is a conflict is because of their religions.
Politics-New parties opposed and competed with the previously powerful Congress Party of India. Causing a decline on its hold on the area.
East Asia
Social- China adopted a one-child policy to control population growth. If you followed this policy you would get incentives such as education benefits, child care, and housing. They did this to control the rapid population growth.
Economy- . Japan’s economy slipped into a recession and they faced slow economic growth and deflation. A tsunami further weakened Japan. The amount of jobs declined.
Politics-In North Korea they stayed isolated and under military dictatorship. In South Korea they experienced a growing democracy.
