After the Soviet Union stopped sending troops to defend other countries, many countries revolted against it. Polish workers protested and demanded change in the government.
Economic
Mikhail Gorbachev, tried to save the Soviet Union's economy by introducing glasnost. This means that he encouraged citizens to speak openly about the government.
Political
As the Soviet Union is falling, a new group of reformers emerged to try and save it. The leader was a man named Mikhail Gorbachev. He introduced new things and also ended the Cold War. He did this because it was unnecessary to fight that war.

The Tiananmen Square demonstrations was an event where Chinese protesters at the Tiananmen Square called for democracy. Deng thought they wanted to end communism in China, so he ordered the tanks there to fire at will. 500-2,000 people were killed and many more injured.

China started to go by a practical approach to fix their economy. Collective farms could lease land to peasants who paid rent. After this was instituted, per capita income doubled
