End of the Cold War Changes
Eastern Europe
Economics: Romainia's leader caused a sharp drop in living standards which also caused food shortages for rationing.
Social: In 1968 the Soviets crushed the Czechoslovakian reform but in 1988-1989 the Czechoslovakia began their rebellion again and soon became independent again.
Politics: For the first time in 1998 Poland held its first election and ended the 45 years of Communist government for them.
North America
Economics: The U.S. started their budget deficit at $631 million, then rose to over a trillion dollars which is mostly owed to china.
Social: In Canada, the French speaking Quebec almost faced recession in 1995.
Politics: The Reagan Revolution included cuts in Food Stamps, Job Programs, and School Lunch Programs. Also during this time the U.S. say the largest military buildup in our history .
South and South East Asia
Social: Disagreements between India and Pakistan have fueled in the late 1990’s. The dispute was over religious differences but mostly over the territory Kashmir along the borders of the countries. This led to point of war to firing nuclear warheads at each and set nuclear explosives underground in 1998.
Politics: In the 1990’s many Southern Asian countries went toward a democracy but some of these countries were stuck in a dictatorship rule and there was also political unrest in indonesia. The political unrest came from a poor economic crisis going on right now in their country.
Economics: A new market reform in India set them to be a free market which started in 1991. Many economists believed that India would have the third biggest economy in 2035.
East Asia
Economics: Japan's Economy slipped into a recession in the 1990's due to a major earthquake that occurred, slow economic growth, and deflation hurt their economy.
Social: China created the one child policy to decrease their population, but in the future they will have a lot of old population to take care of.
Politics: Conflict between North and South Korea continue due to the Nuclear weapons program of North Korea
Africa
Economics: Africa created and organization called the African Unity which its purpose is to promote democracy and economic growth.
Social: HIV and Aids are a huge pandemic which affects 66.7% of the population there and killed 1.2 million people in 2010.
Politics: Many countries in Africa went more toward democracy and they have also come up with the idea of democracy. Interestingly so woman leaders rose to power but woman leaders came after the Cold War ended.
Middle East
Politics: An attempted peace agreement called PTO failed due to terrorism in these countries. The Middle East was also had a lot of countless uprisings. In one case Libya citizens uprose and killed their own leader.
Social: The countries Tunisia and Egypt have 80% of their total population under 25 of age leading to unemployment and is a result of the Cold War.
Economics: Iran has greatly benefitted from mining oil.
South/Central America
Social: Capitalism had never worked in Central America because of the lack of public education which lead to poor leadership and now leaving them with disorganization. It also lead to dictatorships being set up in these countries.
Economics: In latin America many middle class citizens struggled because of the huge gap between the rich and the poor.
Politics: High poverty, illiteracy, high unemployment have all led to violent drug wars in which Mexico's president that was elected in 2006 had killed off many civilians in order to put a stop to these drug wars.
Western Europe
Economics: They had created the EU which solved their financial crisis by giving them a common currency throughout Europe.
Social: There were disagreements in France about foreign citizens in 1995 even including muslims.
Politics: Eastern Germans were upset with their communist rule and Western Germany had a conservative government, but eventually they would be reunified.
