Sustainable water magement
References
The availability of water is very important in our daily life because is essential for agriculture, human consumption, industry and energy generation. .
Presence of chemical or biological agents that alter what is naturally found in water.
Types
It refers to the use, development, and protection of water with the purpose of fulfilling the actual demands of water in communities without compromising the availability of water in the future.
Radiation
chemical
Oil spill
noise pollution
Fertilizers, pesticides, petroleum products, chlorinated solvents, etc.
presence of radioactive materials like microwaves and gamma-rays.
elevated sound level over 85 dB may damage the organisms.
spill of petroleum products or crude oil like gasoline and kerosene.
Situation in Quéretaro
Health effects (in humans)
Kidney and liver damage, thyroid system disorders, reproductive and endocrine repercussions, diarrhea, cramps and vomiting, etc.
According to a Cornell University study, water pollution accounts for 80% of all infectious diseases. According to the same study, unsanitary living conditions generate 5 million deaths in a year.
The great majority of rivers and dams are polluted because there are not enough water treatment plants.
Causes
spills of oil and other chemicals carried by rains
accumulation of feces generated by animals.

Water Collection by Rainwater Harvesting
Today in Querétaro, the "Acueducto II" is a project which is now in construction. Through 123km long water would be transported from north to south to supply with clean and quality water water to more than 900 thousand habitants
This is a complex hidraulic system which efficiently transfers the resource with the best use of energy, respecting the environment and incorporating the most modern techonolgy of now a day.
Fresh water is available in the surface water such like lakes, rivers and in groundwater like rock or soil layers
Encourage an optimal use of water- Use water in a smart way and encouraging others to not waste water.

An example of this is Reverse Osmosis in which underground water is taken and by the use of a Reverse Osmosis Plant, it's minerals are removed making the water safe to consume.

Rainwater Harvesting refers to the action of capturing and accumulating the rainwater, in order to give a better use for later. This way erosion and the contamination of the surface water is prevented. A cistern is usually used to store the water.
Spread awareness about how to save water with simple tips like: taking shorter showers, washing the cars with a bucket and not with a hose and turning off the water while brushing your teeth
