How do divergent volcanoes form?
Convection currents under the Earth’s crust determine which direction the plates move. As they separate, a gap is created between the plates. This is filled by magma which rises up from the mantle to plug the hole and complete the crust. As this repeats, layers of lava harden and build up to create volcanoes. When they erupt the ash and tephra add to the layers of the volcano too.
This mostly happens under the sea. #
