Respiratory system: Plant
Photosynthesis
Carbon dioxide + Water ---Sunlight---> Oxygen & Glucose
Carbon dioxide from the air, water absorbed from the roots and absorbed sunlight are used in Photosynthesis to produced oxygen and glucose.
Respiration
Oxygen + Glucose ----> Carbon Dioxide & Water & (Energy)
The plant uses oxygen and glucose to produce carbon dioxide and release energy and water.
:
Transpiration
Water evaporates and diffuses out of the leaves. More water is then drawn out from the Xylem cells in the leaves to replace the lost water.
Oxygen
Produced during photosynthesis
Used in process of Respiration
Oxygen produced by plants are breathed in by humans
Carbon Dioxide
Used during Photosynthesis
Produced during Respiration
The by-product of a cycle as humans breathe
Glucose
The soluble sugars produced by plants
Stomata
In the dark, its guard cells lose water
Control gas exchange in leaf
In the light, its guard cells absorb water
Chloroplasts
The tiny structures in plant cells where photosynthesis takes place
Contains chlorophyll, a green pigment that absorbs light energy for photosynthesis
