DEVELOP PROJECT CHARTER
Document that formally authorizes the existence of a project by documenting the business needs and project justification
Authorizes the PM to apply organizational resources to project activities (especially in a matrix organization)

PM should be assigned prior to the start of planning, and whilst the project charter is being developed

PM PLAN (OUTPUT)
A single document, but broken into pieces called subsidiary plans
Subsidiary plans are the 10 knowledge areas e.g Scope management plan, Quality management plan, Cost management plan (Refer to pages 31-33 for more info)

Schedule baseline - Model which can be changed through formal change control procedures and used as a basis for comparison to actual results
Cost baseline- the budget, exc. any management reserve

CHANGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Change control is focused on identifying, documenting and controlling changes to the project and the product baseline
