George: Small, smart, with sharp features. He looks after Lennie, they travel together and are best friends.
Lennie: Large, lumbering, simpleton, who is very strong and loves to pet soft things
Curley: Boss' son, little guy, curly hair, only guy with a wife, wearing a glove full of vaseline, used to be a boxer(handy), picks a fight with Lennie
Curley's Wife: Young, pretty, the only young woman on the ranch, not very nice, married Curley for his money
Candy: a swamper(janitor), old guy, missing a hand, he has and old sheep dog for a pet, we can tell that he longs for company and he wants these guys to feel comfortable
Crooks: Only black guy on the ranch, Crippled/broken back, Has to sleep in a separate room
Slim: Prince of the ranch, role model, ageless, handsome, competent, confident, smart, listens more than talks, when he does he commands authority and respect
Setting: During the Great Depression in Southern California in Soledad on a wheat/barley ranch/ farm
