Digestive system
what are enzymes
-
-
Example:
in this diagram many glucose molecules make a starch molecule which is a type of carbohydrate and when the enzymes (amylas) act on the starch molecules it makes a maltose molecule which is made up of 2 glucose molecules and when the enzymes act on it again it breaks down into glucose which is carbohydrates simpilest form
-
human Alimentary canal
-
-
it is wide in some places, thinner is some places and folded in some places
-
what is digestive system
-
large molecules ----> small molecules insoluble molecules ----> soluble indiffusible molecules ----> diffusible
types
-
physical digestion
-
-
happens in the mouth, oesophagus and small intestine
physiology
human alimentary canals
mouth
-
-
-
TYPE OF DIGESTION
physical digestion
teeth is used to break down the large peices of food into small pieces of food and the tounge rolls the partly digested food into the oesophagus
-
-
-
small intestine
-
-
TYPE OF SECREATION
pancreatic juices, intestinal juices
-
-
-
-
OTHER FUNCTION
glucose, Amino asids, fatty acid + glycerols -------> absorbed into the walls of the small intestine
-
Large Intestine & Anus
-
OTHER FUNCTION
-
undigested food + excess mineral and water = faeces -------> stored in the rectum and released through the anus
-
other parts
organs
pancreas
creates pancreatic juice
contains enzymes which are amylase, carbohydrase, lipase and protease
liver
creates bile juice
blie juice is a juice which breaks down large fats droplets into small fats droplets in the small intestine
