Managing skin injuries
Dress wound with sterile pad
Control bleeding
Refer to medical attention
Clean wound with water
Apply antiseptic

Involves the widening of blood vessels
3 phases
Phase 1
Damage to capillary
Takes 42-72 hours
WBC aide healing phase
Area becomes red, swollen and warm
Phase 2
Healing is initiated
Scar tissue building
Takes 48 hours- 6 weeks
Phase 3
Ligament remodelled
Scar tissue increased in production
Takes 6 weeks - 3 months
Strength and size back to original
Skin Abrasion
Surface layer of skin is broken
Example: graze on leg from sliding tackle in soccer
