As cited in (Clark, 2008), five content types: procedure, concept, fact, process. as well as principle must be hit to elevate not only the meaning but to skyrocket learner comprehension (Clark & Lyon, 2011, p. 37-38).
The goal of the instruction must align with the graphic integration. These five types of content serve as a steering wheel, where neglecting them will inflict graphics to have little to no meaning for being present.
Visual diversification amplifies the potential to expand ones understanding on a topic or task specified in instructions, but not all should be utilized -- it depends upon the content and they cannot be haphazardly added.
