Muscle Tissue Types
Cardiac Muscle Tissue: Long, cylindrical, branch out, striated (visible banding) , and single nucleus in center. They are located in the heart wall and form the heart wall which is involved in pumping blood. Joined to another cells at intercalated disc. Are involuntary which means you can not control.
Smooth Muscle Tissue: Spindle shaped, not striated, and have single nucleus located in center. They are located in hallow organs such as digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive tract. Also around eyes which controls the amount of light that goes into the eye. Form hallow walls of organs and eyes (size of the pupil). Are involuntary which means you can not control.
Skeletal Muscle Tissue: Long, cylindrical, parallel, striated (visible banding) , and multi-nucleated. They located by bones and tendons, are attached to bones by tendons. Are voluntary which means you can control.
