History of the atom
Plum pudding model - Experiments found out that atoms were not solid and that they contained electrons.
Rutherford proved the plum pudding model wrong - he yeeted positive alpha particles at gold - it bounced back so he guessed theres some rando particles in the middle
Neil Bohr worked out that this wouldn't work so he guessed about shells and that there was a nucleus with neutrons in as well
-
Chemical Equations
Symbol equations show atoms on both sides, however need to be balanced
Ions: Ammonium NH4+, Hydroxide OH-, Nitrate NO3-, Carbonate CO3 2-, Sulfate SO4 2-
Periodic table
Dmitri Mendeleev made the first proper one - He sorted them into groups based on properties - as he did this he realised that if he put atoms in order of atomic mass he could put elements with similar properties in columns.
-
Conservation of mass
No atoms are destroyed or created in a chemical reaction. If the mass changes there is normally a gas involved

Empirical formula - work out moles of each element there ism work out the smallest ratio to get the formula
