I chose my grandmother, Shaila
Mrs. Weling has been a general surgeon for 55 years (1964-present) and has greatly impacted the lives of her patients
Throughout my life, she constantly encouraged and cared for me in the way my mother does. She has taught me how to have a definitive moral compass and how to believe strongly. She is dedicated to her religion, which has taught me to have faith and discipline.
She attended college in the 1960's, an era in which women were gravely oppressed. She was one of a couple of women during medical school at the University of Toronto and her residency in Jaslok hospital, Mumbai.
She is a strong advocate of equal treatment and equal respect, regardless of income, caste, gender or religion.
Even at age 75, she works hard in every aspect of her life, somehow always finding time to care for others
She has recently been diagnosed with severe myasthenia gravis and had her thymus gland removed only a few months ago. Despite her adversity, she has continued working, praying and spending time with family. Her perserverance is one of the reasons I call her my role model.
Her ever present strength and dedication is inspirational, as well has the hundreds of hours she has spent volunteering and helping her temple provide food and clothing to underprivileged families.
The two core components of my beliefs fit into education and healthcare. The document contains a diagram with my beliefs and values, as well as additional details.

note: I chose someone who I am personally familiar with as I think that the best role models are the ones who have impacted me over the course of a long time. The media is often biased, portraying people as different to who they are in person.
I believe in equality, unity and diversity. And I believe in change. More specifically, if change is the only constant, our collective goal should always be to direct change in the correct directions, right? Society conditions us to learn about the world the way it is and then accept it. I believe that through improving education, we can improve the way society works as a whole.

I would like to always grow and learn, regardless of my age or surroundings
In the near future, I aim to expand my project and assemble a team of students who teach other students

After completing IB to the best of my ability, I aim to attend a strongly academic undergraduate college in USA or Canada. After that, I aim to graduate medical school and complete my residency, the last year of it spend volunteering. I aim to spend a year at Doctors without Borders, working to improve the life of those living in dangerous areas,
Gaining experience will allow me to collaborate/lead an education revolution initiative in India- hopefully working with the government to make education a force of empowerment and change.
