Theory is interesting it shows the maternal mitochondria have made free radicals--how does this happen? How does it relate to the test?

Thiol oxidation at the level of ATP synthase alpha F1 subunit is not a developmental metabolic switch; at least at the time points analysed and in the species of interest.
Is it because of a lack of a redox signal? Or a lack of free radicals altogether because they are silent?
For this to be correct, it would be of interest to look at activity.
