What is the California State Water Project
The projects purpose is to supplement the already available water supply
LA and San Diago were needing more water so they have looked at the Colorado river for it

The river produces 17.25 trillion litters annually
Environmental conserns
Caused by the removal of water in the dry season
Fish stocks have gone down and have been badly affected
Due to low water flows because of water abstraction
Costs
$119 - per 1000m cubed
Agricultural users users pay less than $36 - per 1000 meters cubed
Urban users pay $241 - per 1000m cubed
The increase in demand is because of the setting up of another water supply project in the south west of the USA
Called the Central Arizona project costing $4 billion
Involves diverting water away from central Arizona
Arizona has been using more water than it used to because of the expanding citys
This has caused a California to have to look for a water supplement to make up for this short fall in water
California has to now very carefully look at its future options
