Produced when text is set using ordered grid structures, there are many different ways of laying out columns in a presentation
-
Pull quote
a small section of text that is sampled and enlarged, this is then set into the layout as a way of attracting interest in the article
Usually set in italics or reverse to make it stand out, it's usually an interesting part or controversial quote in the article, so it entices the reader
Bleed
Pages are trimmed to size after printing. Bleed is when an image or element runs outside of the margins of the page (beyond the crop marks)
Meaning that when the page is trimmed, the artwork or element goes right to the edge of the page

A text box is an area into which you can add text. the text will follow the shape of the box if you choose to resize it. the text box can take the form of any shape you like.
Anytime you select an object in a DTP package, a frame will appear around it. these frames have handles at the corners and the midpoints to allow them to be resized.
There are a range of textures can be applied to a shape when using DTP software. These can be used to improve a presentation in compliance with the design element, texture.

Colour fill allows a shape filled with a colour specified by the user. there are a number of fill options for colour, e.g. a solid colour, gradient,or texture.
-
A gradient fill shows one colour gradually fading to another. The user can adjust the setting to control the colours, pattern and direction of the gradient fill.

when text follows the edge of an image, it is described as being "wrapped". this is a useful method of incorporating images into your presentations and creating rhythm. There are different types of text wrap available to use DTP software and you should try to use the most appropriate one. you can see that the text here has been set to wrap around the right-hand side of the image.
The colour picking tool allows a colour from an image to be sampled and used in any other feature on the DTP presentation.
Where there is a strong contrast between the colour of the background and the text, is called "reverse text"

text can be set to follow a line or shape. The flow text function can be used to make the text follow the shape of the image in the presentation, which can help achieve unity.

cut and paste can be used to remove an image or frame from one document or part of the page to another
orientation refers to the direction of the page, which is usually set up at the start of the document. there are two possible orientation- landscape and portrait.

the space between lines of text can be enlarged to make it easier to read . this only works to a point , after which the text becomes disconnected and more difficult to read. conversly, line spacing can also be made smaller to help fit more information into an area of a presentation. the space between lines of text can be enlarged to make it easier to read . this only works to a point , after which the text becomes disconnected and more difficult to read. conversly, line spacing can also be made smaller to help fit more information into an area of a presentation.
