Terms and working conditions for employees in Singapore, except some types of employees.
Child-Development Co-Savings Act
Encourage married couples to have more children.
Facilitate provision of grants and financial help for development of children.
Medical/Sick Leave under the Employment Act
Eligibility Criteria
Served their employers for at least 3 months.
Informed or tried to inform their employer within 48 hours of their absence.
Medical Reimbursement
Employer pay for medical consultation fee arising from MC given.
No paid sick leave, no consultation fee reimbursement if fall sick on public holiday, annual leave, rest days or non-working days.
If employee is certified unfit to work?
Terminate service after giving notice, or pay in lieu of notice.
Compensate based on what is provided in employment contract, or payment based on goodwill.
Entitlement
Worked for
6 months and more
: 60 days of hospitalisation leave, including 14 days of sick leave.
Worked for
less than 6 months
: Pro-rated.
Childcare Leave
Eligibility Criteria
Child below 7 years old.
Child is a Singapore citizen
Served employer for 3 months / Self-employed for 3 months and lost income during childcare leave period.
Entitlement
Employment Act
:
2 days per year for parents of non-Singapore citizens.
Child Development Co-Savings Act:
6 days per year, regardless of number of children.
Pro-Rated Childcare Leave
Worked less than one year.
Leaving his / her job.
Unpaid Infant Care Leave
Child is below 2 years of age, includes legally adopted children or stepchildren.
Entitlement
: 6 days per year.
Extended Childcare Leave
Youngest child is between 7 and 12 years old (inclusive).
Entitlement
: 2 days per year.
Childcare Leave for Part-Time Employees
Calculation depends on working hours, and whether child is Singapore citizen.
Maternity Leave
Eligibility Criteria
Child is Singapore citizen.
Mother is legally married to child's father.
Child is born or has estimate delivery date (EDD) on or after 1 January 2017.
Mother worked for employer / self-employed for 3 months before birth of child.
Entitlement
Employment Act
:
12 weeks of maternity leave.
Child Development Co-Savings Act
:
16 weeks of Government Paid Maternity Leave (GPML)
Extend maternity leave beyond stipulated 16 weeks?
Depends on organisation, can be extended by
6 - 8 weeks
