In culturally responsive learning communities and classrooms, academic expectations are not lowered due to cultural or linguistic diversity. Rather than lowering expectations, the teacher should scaffold learning experiences to support CLD students
        
        A culturally responsive learning community or classroom holds the belief that ALL children have had some experiences that will help them learn (Nieto, pg. 38).
