Economic Impacts of the Civil War
North
The North was known for its Industrialized areas such as cities which was becoming the new and better trend during this time as the south pushed for it not to happen.
Economy was boosted
New inventions and increase in production
Railroad machinery, Pig Iron, and increase in American input
The mining of coal helped them out a lot
This would be turned into Iron
Iron became cheaper

Guns
Clad Ships
Many men died in the north too so it was no cake walk for them either
Many houses were destroyed in the north too
Rebuilding still had to be done in the north too
This aloud for a lot more money being able to be put into the Industry
The need for steel helped their economy during for things such as guns
South
The South was known for its agricultural work and the use of slaves in the production in the fields
Slaves set free in the south and farmers now had to pay people to work on their farms
Farming began to fail and farmers would have to borrow money to begin planting crops again
This caused farmers to go into debt
Most of the wars were fought in the South
Many families were left without father figures due to their involvement in the war
Families would fail because they did not have the men to help in the fields
Homes were destroyed
Railroads were destroyed
So was many cotton gins
Many foods were out of the price range of the families in the south
The Bread Riot would start and this was where many women would riot for food and over a thousand women participated
Many cities were turned to nothing but a cloud of smoke
Clothing and shelter were big problems!!!!!!!!!!!
But with the creation of the Freedoms Bureau this would help the homeless
This was created by the government
This provided service to over 4 million freed slaves
