Children who were not born into rich family's didn't make it far into life
charles dickens grew up in child labor working from 8 am to close and only had 2 off days.

many children only ate bread and soup that would most likely! make them sick and would eventually cause them to die 
they worked to help there family

how they earned money
they worked very dangerous jobs that dident pay much
what they did with their money
they would work in factory's but they would only earn one dollar a week which did not hold them over that long
the jobs they worked were in factory's or in the outside like chimneys or on the street
the children would spend most of all of their money on food and spend the left over money on clothes and warmth 
not a lot of money
