White Privilege in America: Analyzing Peggy McIntosh
Who is Peggy McIntosh?: " a white female, American scholar and activist for equality,"
Introduction:
Context of Peggy McIntosh (What does she do ?): "founder of the “National SEED Project” which writes and lectures the teachers and the community about race, color, gender, and sexual orientation, she was also a senior research scientist and former associate director for the Wellesley Centers for Women"
Current Issue and how her idea of white privivlege is still present in America: "white privilege to address the ongoing issue today involving the racism toward people of color and how they are not given the same opportunities as white people"

2nd Body Paragraph:
Quote from McIntosh's text: “ I have come to see white privilege as an invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was “meant” to remain oblivious.”
What does this mean? : unknowingly increased the gap between whites and other races, causing racism because whites have a cheat code to life while other races are faced with obstacles in the course of their lives.
Source that relates to idea of white privilege and racism in America: Jane Elliot, an anti-racism activist and educator set out to demonstrate the issue of racism through her third-grade class.
What did she do ?: She did this by dividing the class based on eye color, where blue-eyed students were deemed as lazy and not as smart compared to green or brown-eyed children. Immediately she saw the difference in their work ethic and behavior of her students n which students with brown eyes and green eyes did much better than those with blue eye color. With this, we can see the concept of racism and white privilege.
How does it relate to McIntosh?We see these concepts with the original assumption that those with blue eye color (whites) are better than those with another eye color. Thus, we see the idea that white people have advantages and attributions since the moment they were born that makes them seem better than other races even though it is not true.
we see in these two texts is the disadvantages that other races have compared to whites. In both Elliot’s experiment and in McIntosh's text we see that one race (predominantly whites) are given certain priorities over other races and even certain assumptions are made that they are superior. These two women intend on bringing awareness to this concept of white privilege.
