Awon Lor Cardiovascular System
Heart
Myocardium Anatomy
Bundles
It is the muscles the helps squeeze the blood and keeps it flowing
Systole/Diastole
Systole is the contraction of the heart while diastole is the rest of the heart
Heart Valves
The heart valves are the tricuspid valves, bicuspid valves, pulmonary valves, and the aortic valves. they help with the control of blood flow. The sound of lub-dub is made when these valves are closing
Heart Walls
Myocardium
It is the muscle of the heart
Endocardium
It has simple squamous epithelium that lines the inner heart and covers the valves
Epicardium
It is a visceral pericardium
Conduction System
An electrical impulse that signals the heart. 1. Sinoartrial node, 2. Atrioventricular node, 3. Atrioventricular bundle, 4. Left and right bundle branches, and 4. Purkinje fibers
Pericardial Membranes
Parietal layer of Serous Pericardium
It is also known as the epicardium and to be part of the heart wall
Fibrous Pericardium
It a a strong layer made of dense connective tissues
Pericardial Cavity
A spacing that lies between the fibrous pericardium and the heart
Blood Vessels
Vein
Venules
It is the smallest and is much like capillaries. It has 1 to 2 layers of smooth muscle
Medium Vein
It is a valve the helps blood from flowing backwards
Capillar
Sinusoids
Large items like proteins and whole cells can be exchange through it. It is in red bone marrow, liver, and spleen
Avascular
There are no capillaries. It is found in the lens, cornia, cartilage, and epitheliums
Fenestrated
It has pores and has a high rate of exchange. Usually in kidneys, intestines, choroid plexus, and endocrine glands
Continuous
It is the most common and is some what leaky (intercellular cleffs)
Artery
Muscular/Distributing
It can constrict or dilate to increase or decrease blood flow to organs or parts of organs
Arteriole
It has 1 to 2 layers of smooth muscles and it can constrict or dilate
Elastic/Conducting
It is the largest and helps propel blood away from the heart by stretching and recoiling
Blood Branch
Plasma
It is a liquid where 90% is water and it holds more than 100 types of molecules as well
Cells
Thrombocytes
It is not really a cell. It is made up of pieces of cytoplasm from megakarocytes and is involve with blood clotting
Erythrocytes
It is the most common blood cell
Leukocytes
It role is immunity and there are different types of leukocytes. there are Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Basophils, Lymphocytes, and Monocytes
