The dashed lines show the interconnectivity of the environmental impacts and the producers of food waste. The map indicates that no matter who is producing the waste, and where it is being disposed of, the food waste will ultimately result in global warming. That being said, it is visible that there are many more causes of food waste production on the consumer level of the food chain. The result of combined consumer and producer food waste will always result in greenhouse gas pollution because almost all methods of food waste processing and disposal result in an increase in world methane production.
