LeonardcrainCardiovascularSystem
Heart
pericardial membranes
Serous Pericardium - simple squamous epithelium & Areolar C.T
Visceral - (inner), lines the outside of organ
Parietal - (outer), lines wall of thoracic cavity
Fibrous Pericardium - covers the entire outside of the heart - made up of D.I.C.T
layers of heart wall
Epicardium - outer layer
Endocardium - inner layer
Myocardium - middle layer
microscopic anatomy of myocardium
Fascia adhesions - desmosomes like structures
Gap Junctions - electrical signals pass from one cell to the next
Intercalated disc
heart valves and conduction system of heart
SA - sinotrial node "pace maker" - in right atrium
Signal to A.V node - delay signal - while ventricles fill with blood
A.V bundle
bundle branches
Purking Fiber or Purkinje Fibers
Blood Vessels
Arteries types
Muscular artery - thick tunica externa
Arteriole - thickest with the thickest tunica media
Elastic Artery - lots of elastic fibers
Vein Types
Large vain - massive tunica externa/ made of smooth muscle tissue
Medium sized Vein - has valves
Venule - thin tunica externa and tunica media but has a large tunica intima
Capillary types
Fenestrated - tunica Intima has multitude of poors
Sinusoid - tunica Intima has multiple tears/ massive openings
Continuous - has intercellular cleft
Blood
Plasma - the extracellular matrix of the blood cell
erythrocytes - red blood cells
Thrombocytes - blood platelets
Leukocytes - white blood cells - 5 different kinds of leukocytes
Basophil - covered fully in grains
Neutrophil - a horse shoe/ four separate segments in a clear cytoplasm
Monocyte - 4x larger than an erythrocyte
lymphocytes - clearly seen cytoplasm/ smallest of the Leukocytes
Eosinophil - usually has a strange color to it such as orange, purple, or pink
