When firm merges wit another firm, certain jobs become obsolete. As retrenchment is commonly associated with negative connotations, current employees would perceive their employers negatively.

Venturing overseas bring new skills and talent to the table. With such a movement, employees might perceive themselves as liabilities and worry about their employment with the company which demoralises their morale.
Ageing Workforce
When older employees are not retained in the company after the retirement age, they will perceive their employers negatively and therefore this affects employee relations.
