The Muscular System

Names of all the muscles
MUSCLES OF TRUNK
Latissimus dorsi- mid-back, extends, adducts, and medially rotates the shoulder
Trapezius- "triangle" region of back, shoulder arm movement
Rectus abdominis- abdominal muscle (superficial), flexes the vertebral column
External oblique- outside of abdominal area (superficial), laterally flexes and rotates vertebral column (superficial)

Erector spinae- behind the chest area on back, extends the vertebral column
MUSCLES OF ARM
Extentor digitorium- in the forearm, extends the fingers
Tricep brachii- upper arm, extends the forearm of the elbow
Flexor digitoriu superficial- in the forearm, flexes the wrist and fingers
Flexor carpi radialis- forearm, flexes & abducts the wrist
Deltoid- upper part of the arm and top of the shoulder, rotates the arm
Flexor carpi ulnaris- in forearm, flexes & abducts the hand
Bicep brachii- front of arm between the shoulder & elbow, flexes forearm
Extensor carpi radialis- in forearm, extends wrist
MUSCLES OF HEAD

Temporalis- side of the head above the ear, closes jaw

Orbicular oris- closes the mouth and portrudes the lips, kissing
Zygomaticus- smiling, extends from the corner of your mouth to cheek bone
Masseter- closes the jaw, mid-cheek
Orbicularis oculi- allows you to close your eyes, squint, blink and wink
Sternocleidomastoid- bowing the head, raises and flexes the neck,

MUSCLES OF THIGH & LEG
Extensor digitorium longus- around the leg, dersiflexion toes & foot
Sartorius- around the thigh, diagnally crosses the anterior thigh to attach medially to the tibia
Tibialis anterior- in the leg, dersiflexion & inversion
Quadracep group- around the thigh, extends the leg of knee
Gluteus maximus- on the glout end, extends thigh and back of the wrist
Hamstring- muscle biceptemoris, semtendorious, semomembrous, flexes leg at the knee and extends thigh
Adductor muscles- at the waist & thigh, pull the legs together and stabilize the hip
Gastrocnemius- around the leg, (plantar), flexes ankle
Iliopsoas- in the waist, helps bend at the waist when leaving
Soleus- in the leg, (plantar), flexes ankle
