- - - - At the end of the play, we find out Abigail steals from Samuel Parris, breaking into his lockbox, and leaving him "penniless".
  - - - Proctor and Abigail both commit adultery by having an affair with each other, as Proctor is married to Elizabeth. This causes a major plot point in the play, where John confesses to this in an attempt to ruin Abigail's name.
  - - - Pretty much everyone involved in the court, of course excluding the people on trial, is guilty of murder, in at least some fashion. From the girls accusing people, to the trial (and the girls causing chaos) to the judges claiming the innocent guilty based on little to no evidence, and finally Hale signing the death warrants. Hale feels extremely guilty after, but that doesn't change the fact that he did sign innocent people to death.
  - - - All of the girls continuously lie about people in Salem being witches. This is best evidenced when Abigail leads the girls into convicting Mary as a witch, pretending they see a bird, and repeating everything she says.
  - - - It is mentioned that Proctor worked on his fields some Sundays, which unfortunately is true, even though the reason for it is, well, reasonable. This doesn't help him out when he is accused of being a witch/wizard.
  - - - Putnam desperately wants the lands of others, and is willing to effectively kill others for it. This shows serious envy.
    - - Abigail isn't exactly envious of Elizabeth, but she does want to replace her, or be her so she can have Proctor to herself.
- - - - Again, John and Abigail were having an affair, which means that there was lust happening, otherwise it wouldn't have happened in the first place.
  - - - Parris is extremely greedy in general. Proctor brings up the reason why he stopped going to church, was that Parris wouldn't stop complaining that the church didn't have golden candlesticks. He also was much more upset that all of his money was stolen, than of the fact that Abigail and Mercy had gone missing.
    - - A major reason that so many people got hanged was because Putnam wanted more land. Proctor accuses him as such, and he isn't able to defend himself very well. As we find out later, no matter whether you pleaded guilty or innocent to being a witch your land was confiscated. This is why Giles refused to say yes or no, so that his land would pass on to his sons, the way it was supposed to.
  - - - Abigail is extremely wrathful in general, we learn rather quickly, as she threatens to kill people if they talk about what happened in the forest. Most of her hatred is directed towards Elizabeth Proctor, and then eventually towards John Proctor for his loyalty to Elizabeth.
    - - Judge Hathorne, at multiple points, seems to have a quite short temper. He frequently snaps and/or yells at people if they try to offer their opinion on something he's already decided on.
  - - - Again, Abigail Williams is envious or jealous of Elizabeth Proctor, as she is with John, and Abigail is not (anymore).
    - - Mrs. Putnam appears to be rather jealous of Martha Corey, probably because she has a large family, unlike Mrs. Putnam herself, as she has trouble, to be blunt, keeping her babies alive (probably through no fault of her own).
  - - - As previously mentioned (in wrath) Hathorne is so prideful or self confident that he refuses to listen to what anyone else has to say after he has made his own choice on the matter. Despite there being plenty of good reasons to delay the hangings at the end of the book, he is adamant that they happen the day he they were scheduled.
    - - Hale is at first too prideful, and almost excited to hear that there were witches in Salem, and that he was considered the local expert and called in to check things out. He asks leading questions of people, and seems to not understand sarcasm in the moment, taking everything literally. Again, he has already made up his mind that there are witches in Salem, and not much could change that thought. He does, however, realize later that there wasn't strict proof, and that what he did was wrong, which is more then you can say for most of the characters.
