British army- at its largest had 50,000, very strong and had the most powerful navy. Equipped however, didn't know the land & were far from home.
Green Mountain Boys- Led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold, attacked Ticonderoga where their 400 men get cannons and bullets.

Valley Forge- harsh winter 12 men lived together in filthy conditions, 2500 die from disease and starvation. Men ate shoe leather or rotten meat.

Battle of Yorktown- Colonial Victory. This battle was when the French trapped Cornwallis and forced the British to surrender.
Surrender at Yorktown- 7000 British, Lincoln accepts sword from Ohara.
Guilford Courthouse- Fransisco killed 11 men in this battle, it occurred in North Carolina.
Many women joined their husbands at the front. During the war, they would help them by washing clothes, cooking, and caring for the wounded.
The French helped the colonies win the war by trapping Cornwallis (land & sea). The British were unable to rescue him, so they eventually surrendered.
The US gained land North to Canada, West to the Mississippi, and South to Florida. American gained our independence and British paid loyalists for lost land.
The colonists were on top and waited to fire until the British to got close. The British attacked twice and the colonists held them off. On the third attack by the British, the colonists had to retreat because they ran out of ammo. Washington saw it as a victory if they hadn't run out of ammo. They colonists gained confidence and hope from this battle.
