Things I want to gain from the
Rehearsal Thing
Working new methods I've not done before
Be recommended books and methods
Playing through methods I've read about but never really understood
Try them out. Read them, follow them and reflect.
Figuring out how to choose a character for a piece
Discussing it, trying it out
Finding out about accents and voice work in rehearsals, how it effects a piece
Read about it, research and try it out.
Create a network of actors I know I like working with
Work with at least 1 new actor each time
Be recommended somebody
My worry is that if it's a randomer, they might be shit and that'll ruin all of it, so they need to be vouched for.
Improve/create my warm up routine
Set one of the actors the challenge of creating it and developing it.
Build my knowledge of plays
Have plays recommended to me
Learn which methods apply better to what kind of plays. Should every play be worked on in the same way etc, is it one size fits all?
Trying out different methods, this means constantly researching and trying things out
Learn more about devised work
Research devising and give it a go.
Bring in someone who uses devising as a tool.
Get the momentum of my directing going
Don't leave too long of a gap. That means have my shit in gear.
Gain more confidence in directing plays I'm not used to
Embrace the challenge, work at it.
