(affecting roughly half the class, 4-5 quite severe)
Unreasonably high expectations of self
Emotional outbursts when not meeting own expectations
Fear of failure :warning:
Some in tears when incorrect or stuck on problem
To the effect that they can't learn from mistakes because they won't attempt
Some with need for constant teacher validation e.g. "but I don't get... but how am I meant to do this?"
At risk of anxiety
Mathematics problem solving strategies lacking

Many lacking the skills needed in Otago Problem Solving challenge
Some excellent at it
Others just to afraid to fail
Lack of learner voice in learning experiences
Comes down to teacher
Students not allowed the level of choice they should be (in my teaching)
Student led literacy rotations
A lot of off-task behaviour (under the radar)
Some using reading eggs ineffectively (just playing games)
Not operating to its fullest potential
