not limited to humans - Ant swarms, wolf packs, fish shoals, bird swarms. Groups working together to produce a result that an individual working alone could not hope to achieve.
swarm intelligence - The interaction of a high number of 'stupid' creatures that cause the emergence of an intelligent, reactive, adaptable symbiosis.
Relies on the participants being uniform, not individualized.
-
Not suitable for species where health and balance depend on individual differentiation - Inbreeding is bad kids!
-
holopticism - Capacity for an individual to see the whole as a living entity in the collective in which he/she operates
gift economy - The economy of social interaction. Giving / helping in the community and receiving back in ways such as status, social currency.
pyramidal intelligence - hierarchy based intelligence structure that co-ordinates and maximizes the power of the masses. Still the most widely used structure in human society.
-
authority - Individuals have differing levels of authority, be it by "divine right", affiliations, merit, expertise, law, etc.
-
standards and norms - Allow for de-personalising and the circulation and inter-operability of knowledge within the community.
global CI - Collective intelligence that transcends the other models, using a new open communication medium such as cyberspace / the internet.

Pareto principle - Rule found were 20% of the population possesses 80% of the total money in that population.
-
-
market economy - Transactions and contracts made through the use of financial currency. Money is scarce and this scarcity produces value.
not new! - Collective intelligence has been in practice for all of time. Fundamental to the survival of many species.
-
semantic web - The current internet is designed purely for human readability. There is a movement to add context to content to help computers process it and 'understand' it as we humans do.
money - Outdated need that obliges participants to compete against one another in attaining resource.
-
centre of authority - Do we really need centres of authority anymore? Do we need bosses? Can we adopt true consensus practice?
