In the movive polonius eavesdrops on hamlets and ophelias conversation. That is how the audience know he is mad and that’s how polonius knows hes mad. But in the play Ophelia is the one who tells her dad Hamlet is mad. She says “O my lord, my lord, I have been so affrighted!” (2, 1, 75) she tells her father how hamlet came badly dressed and look put of sorts. Her father replies “Mad for thy love?” (2,1 85) and she says “ My lord, I do not know.But truly, I do fear it” (2,1,86-87) She explains how carzy Hamlet is but in the movie Polonius figures out himself
