Ethnographic Research
Types of Observation
General Observation
The results of a scientific investigation, whatever its branch of knowledge, must be presented in an absolutely clean and sincere way
Direct observation
It is possible to register the behavior simultaneously with its concurrence. There are no retrospective or anticipated elements
Open questions
Spontaneity of the answers. A predetermined structure is not imposed. Source of relevant information is not known

Observation Participant
The most important method of ethnography is that of participant observation, which in practice tends to be a combination of methods, or rather a style of inquiry
-
Types of Interview
Home
The main personal attributes required in the interviews are the same as in other aspects of the research; And always revolve around trust, curiosity and naturalness. Nobody speaks because yes to anyone
Interview Open
I prefer to call them conversations or discussions, which best indicates a free, open, democratic, bidirectional and informal process, and in which individuals can manifest themselves as they are, without feeling tied to predetermined roles.
-
Structured Interviews
At the beginning, it is necessary to establish contact and make people feel comfortable. This means starting nicely and not asking intimate or intimidating questions. A number of well-educated formulas can be used and presented nicely
-
Field Identification
Dimensions Involved
A register of the investigator's feelings, interpretations, intuitions, preconceptions, and future areas of inquiry
Spaces and Subjects
Participants, their patterns of interaction, their perspectives and ways of presenting themselves to others
Miscellaneous Records
Some researchers record comments outside the transcript of their discussions with students and include them in the final report. This helps to connect the discussion with the main analysis.
