Implementation
Preparing the Learners
Projector
Erasers and Pens
Make sure Internet is working
Laptop Computer
Prerequisites if needed
Instructor will discuss the energy of a real fluid decreases as it moves through a pipe. The energy budget in a
pipeline system is materialized by the energy grade line. The hydraulic grade line is
lower than the energy line by the velocity head
Students will be required to work together in groups to determine line pressure of the board
Handout of the model fhat will be used to calculate line pressure
Not sure what the outline for the powerpoint will be right now.
Development
Handouts
Instructional Materials like (books) and handouts
Run through lesson
Vocabulary Head Pressure, Friction Loss, Line Pressure, Pressure Drop, Hydraulic Gradient, Viscosity of Liquid,
Some handouts with possible mathematical questions to answer specific questions
Evaluation
Walking around and observing students
Asking questions :
Online survey
Review the elements of the concept of hydraulic head/gradient
SME instructor will give verbal support and feedback with improvements
Pictures can be taken to monitor progress
Analysis:
Instructional Goals
Objective:Students will build upon the fundamentals of line pressure
Goals
:
After the completion of this presentation, the inspector will be able to
:
Describle the purpose of pressure and friction
Calculate line pressure and document how they arrived at their results using calculation website
Conduct observation screening of line pressure, and hydraulic gradient
Demonstrate by describing if they agree with the end results given by the instructor
Essential Questions
If the pump or line fails, how does this affect the economy
What do the students already need to know and understand about hydraulics and fluid mechanics
What happens if the fluids decrease in the line
What happens if the fluids increase in the line
What is the viscosity of liquid
Why is gravity flow so important in pipes
What is the unit weight of water, and why is this important to understand in relation to line pressure, units and variables
Why is understanding hydraulics so important in relation to pipelines
Design
Assessment:
Students are required to measure the simulated Hydraulic Board Design to determine line pressure
