Social Impacts
Transportation whether by boat, train or car made the pace of life faster and easier but also required standardized time which would lead to the use of schedules and time zones. These time zones are still in use today.
Communication was faster and got news to people quickly. Families also could connect with their loved ones more easily and opted for vacations (usually in the middle class and up).
The improved steam engine contributed to the use of steamboats that would end up bringing immigrants across the Atlantic to America.
